2. Understand that the image of God is now visible throughout the world.
God created Adam in his own image (see Genesis 1:26). If we want to know what God is like, we need only look at Adam before the Fall.
Unfortunately, Adam sinned. This means that the pure and real image of God was no longer available in the world. Man is now made in his image.
But then the baby Jesus entered the world in the manger. Once again the image of God was on display.
In the past, God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us alongside his Son. . . The Son is the exact representation of his being. (Hebrews 1:3)
To see the image of God, study Jesus during his three-year ministry:
Philip said to Jesus, “Just show us the Father and we will be satisfied.” »
Jesus said, “Oh, Philip, I have been with you for so long and you still don’t understand. He who has seen me has seen the Father. (John 14:8-9)
In the upper room, Jesus said something that caused great consternation among the disciples. He proclaimed, “It is good for you that I am going.” » They couldn’t imagine anything worse!
But when limited by his earthly body, Jesus could only physically be in one place at a time. When He was healing the people in Galilee, He could not speak to the Pharisees in Jerusalem.
But, once filled with Holy SpiritHis disciples could be found in many places…they began to fulfill God’s purpose all over the world.
So, on the day of Pentecost, 120 disciples of Jesus were gathered in the same place. Suddenly, “a sound like that of a violent wind came from Heaven… They were all filled with the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:1-4).
If we want to know what God is like, we can see the image of God in a Christian filled with the Holy Spirit. In other words, the image of God is the life of Jesus lived through the lives of his disciples.
