“And it came to pass, that I Nephi said unto my father, I will go and do the things which the Lord has commanded: for I know that the Lord giveth no commandment unto the children of men, without preparing the way for them, that they may do that which he commandth them. —1 Nephi 3:7 (emphasis added)
The Church has announced that the youth theme for 2020 is 1 Nephi 3:7which emphasizes action according to revelation, which general Church leaders believe is an important aspect of future Children and young people effort.
In a letter In an excerpt from the Young Women and Young Men general presidencies sent to local leaders on August 1, the words “go and do” are emphasized in the scripture: “And it came to pass that I Nephi said unto my father, I will do it. go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded: for I know that the Lord giveth no commandment unto the children of men, without preparing the way for them, that they may do that which he commandth them” (emphasis added).
“This verse emphasizes action according to revelation, which is an important aspect of the coming effort on behalf of children and youth and other home-centered efforts supported by the Church” , indicates the letter from the general youth leaders.
The letter encourages leaders and parents to teach the principles of the biblical theme at home and at church throughout the year. The theme can also be used as a topic for sacrament meeting talks given by youth and serve as a focus for activities, camps, youth conferences, and youth devotions. The theme is also highlighted during For the Strength of Youth (FSY) conferences around the world.
