Historical societies launch call for papers for 2024 conferenceEpiscopal Church Historical Society Published on November 10, 2023 |
THE Episcopal Church Historical Society and the Canadian Church Historical Society are seeking papers for a conference to mark the 60th anniversary of the 1963 Toronto Anglican Congress. MRIat60 will take place April 12-13, 2024 at St. Paul’s Bloor Street, Toronto. Participation in MRIat60 will be possible in person or online.
The 1963 Congress brought together around 1,000 archbishops, bishops, priests, deacons and lay people from virtually every diocese of the Anglican Communion. Many are familiar with the approved Manifesto, “Mutual Accountability and Interdependence (MRI) in the Body of Christ.” This Manifesto proposed a radical examination of inequalities within the Communion and encouraged mutual support between dioceses around the world. The goal of the MRIat60 conference is to examine the legacy of the 1963 Toronto Congress.
