Many parents have chosen not to send their children to school since the posters appeared this morning.
Fear and panic gripped residents of Brishnapur village of Muril union in Kahalu upazila of Bogura when miscreants put up posters on the walls of at least 600 houses demanding to money and threatening to kidnap children.
Saleha Begum, a mother of three, woke up this morning to find a poster plastered on the wall of her house, demanding Tk 5,000. There is also a threat that his children will be kidnapped if the amount mentioned is not paid before October 7.
Since this shocking discovery, Saleha has lived in constant fear for the safety of her family.
Like Saleha, other residents of the village also discovered posters on their walls demanding different amounts of money. Many parents have chosen not to send their children to school since the posters appeared this morning.
According to police, the notice demands a monetary contribution ranging from a minimum of Tk200 to Tk5,000, taking into account the financial condition of the owner’s family.
Additionally, the poster states that the money must be deposited in a designated location – in a box under a pond’s solar panel – by October 6.
He warns that if payment is not made, there will be nothing that can be done if the children disappear the next day.
Following the incident, several police officials from Bogura district visited the spot this morning.
Snighdo Akhtar, additional commissioner of police in Bogura, said police were investigating the case to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
