The political climate is certainly heating up as we get closer to the presidential election. Just last week, the Republican Party held its first debate without Donald Trump and yet Trump dominated the conversation.
There are basically two major discussions among people these days; Trump and asylum seekers. This last issue has become a hot topic in towns and cities across New York State as well as New York City, due to the way things have unfolded and how they have been handled.
We are now hearing that President Biden is also showing that the administration and the administration are not very happy with the way things have gone here in the Empire State.
According to reports, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas wrote letters to Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul and highlighted structural and operational issues following an evaluation of the program. The letter says operational issues include data collection, planning, case management and communications.
Here in New York, things are changing for drivers as well.
New York State doesn’t mess with repeat speeding offenders anymore. In fact, they offer to use and install a device in your car if you are regularly stopped for speeding.
There are reports that state senator Andrew Gounardes and congresswoman Emily Gallagher want a speed limiter. to be installed in offenders’ vehicles.
Under a bill proposed by Sen. Andrew Gounardes and Assemblywoman Emily Gallagher, drivers who receive six tickets for speeding and red light camera violations, or four speed camera or light violations Reds, within a year would have to install the device, ensuring they couldn’t exceed the speed limit by more than five miles per hour.
