Meeting the specific needs of young students is more important than ever in today’s ever-changing world.
When we talk about education, it’s clear that there is a disconnect that requires a unique approach to supporting the growth and learning of middle school students. This is where the new middle school program Sekolah Village Pelita Harapan Kemang comes in. A refreshing, innovative and meaningful program in international Christian education.
The middle school model, carefully designed and developed, responds to the specific challenges faced by this age group. It aims to create a strong sense of community, foster an uplifting culture, and provide a dynamic learning environment focused on solving real-world problems.
Building on these pillars, the SPH Kemang Village (KV) middle school model promises an educational journey that is as inspiring as it is transformative.

Culture
SPH KV prides itself on the vibrant culture that encourages students to be curious, explore who they are and broaden their horizons. They also believe in creating a learning environment in which students feel confident to undertake challenging academic projects without fear.
Community
The college creates a strong sense of community among students by carefully planning their schedules and classrooms. Here, students learn and grow together, supporting each other and taking charge of their learning. Classrooms promote active participation, allowing students to explore and engage more deeply with their subjects.

Educational team
At SPH KV, personalized support is essential. Middle school teachers focus on two subjects: fostering holistic development, encouraging collaboration, and developing engaging unit plans. These dedicated mentors go beyond the classroom, providing unwavering support, inspiration and guidance as students navigate challenges.
Learning Environments
It is crucial to view learning as a practical process. The learning environment includes student-centered classrooms, stimulating an interactive and collaborative experience. Teachers use thought-provoking questions to stimulate students’ curiosity and inspire them to find creative solutions to challenges.

Journey of interdisciplinary exploration and personal growth
In this program, students explore a variety of interesting topics that hold their attention. They can choose what they want to learn, giving them more control over their education. Whether it’s photography, myths and folktales, or marsupials, students in grades 6-8 immerse themselves in a wide range of exciting topics.
SPH KV also offers several bootcamps to help develop self-management and decision-making skills, as well as social awareness to promote responsible behaviors in personal, school and community settings. Among these programs you will find the Digital Citizenship boot camp, which extends learning about responsible behavior online.

Joanne, currently in Year 7, shared that she found her passions for drama and humanities at SPH KV. Theater allows him to express himself creatively and build his confidence through storytelling and teamwork. Meanwhile, the humanities take him on a journey through history and culture. Recently, his class connected their knowledge of Chinese culture in social studies and English, performing skits from Ties that unite, ties that break. SPH encourages projects and collaboration, making learning enriching and enjoyable.
Ms. Jane Ymas, Grade 8 teacher at SPH KV, highlights the power of interdisciplinary projects. It highlights an 8th grade project that combines science, language arts and visual arts, allowing students to explore endangered species, create poems and display artwork at the college academic fair.
“I firmly believe that we must encourage students to exceed their limits, encourage them to share their knowledge and their passion with others,“, she shared.
“The SPH KV is not just a place of education; it is a place where we shape future leaders, learners, and spiritual guides, and I am honored to be part of this transformative journey.
